This is a meticulous operation, requiring time and precision!
LISA is designed to observe the visible range (400-700nm). But with a few modifications, it can be converted into an instrument optimized for the near-IR range. That’s the purpose of this IR kit.
The changes relate to three elements:
– We replace the grating with a version optimized (blazed) for IR
– We replace the camera ring to give it an angle (which corrects chromatism).
– We add an order filter (to avoid order overlap).
